"It's Maw Tropical Ice Cream Sundae Recipe -Go Get Your Own!".
That's what your family will say when they try this.
We were introduced to this by our friends, the Maw family. They served it for dessert one night and it's been our family's favorite ever since.
Now, I'm not big on mangoes, but this is delicious! The combination of the coconut ice cream, toasted macadamia, homemade hot fudge, and fresh mango slices, is a vacation form the typical hot fudge sundae.
Get your grass skirt out and hula-hurry to the kitchen with your ohana (family).
Maw Tropical Ice Cream Sundae
by Laurie Maw
All Ingredients:
1 stick of butter
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
1 can evaporated milk
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup chopped macadamia nuts
1 or 2 mangoes sliced
store bought or homemade
coconut ice cream
Hot Fudge Recipe:
Melt 1 stick of butter and 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (in a small sauce pan).
Turn heat off and add 1 can of evaporated milk. Stir and add 2 cups powdered sugar.
Stir and cook until it comes to a boil. Turn down heat and cook 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat. (After making your sundae, and when the hot fudge is cool enough, it should be stored in the refrigerator.)
Toasted Macadamias:
Use a skillet to lightly toast 1 cup of chopped macadamia nuts. Place the nuts in a dry skillet over medium-hi heat.
Gently shake the pan over the burner to toast all sides of nuts and prevent from burning. Set aside.
Assembly:
In each dish, place 1-2 scoops of coconut ice cream. Top with hot fudge, 2-3 slices of mango, and some toasted macadamia nuts.
