Good Humor Ice Cream Bars
Toasted Almond:
These almond flavored bars are so heavenly! They could actually pass for gourmet ice cream desserts if they were shaped like truffles or had a creative presentation (without the stick, of course).
Let me tell you how I discovered them. I was staying in TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Sacramento near Cal Expo. (By the way, they have a great hotel staff. The hotel's General Manager picked me up from the Amtrak station personally, because other staff members were busy at the time I arrived. Also, this was a huge favor, not something they normally would do. The staff has made my stay wonderful and treated me like a V.I.P. So, if you ever travel to Sacramento, California you should stay at that hotel.)
Anyway, my husband had been at the hotel for a couple days before I arrived. He mentioned to me that he had bought some ice cream bars and that they were in the freezer. Didn't intrigue me, since I'm not really into ice cream bars. They usually taste cheap to me.
The first day, I completely ignored them. Didn't even check to see what flavor or brand they were. On the second day, after I had made myself some lunch in the cute kitchette complete with stove and all, I remembered about the ice cream bars.
Looking at the picture on the box didn't do anything for me. But, since I was in the mood for something cold, I decided to try one.
The first bite knocked my socks off! I couldn't believe how wonderful it tasted. The almond flavor in the coating and at the center of the bar just made me melt. It was for me, as good as chocolate. That is saying alot. I'm such a big chocolate freak! After eating this toasted almond ice cream bar, I immediately started writing this page so you could try them too. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did. They kind of remind me of marzipan.
