Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe
This ice cream was made with the following recipe.
Vanilla: The Classic Flavor
Vanilla is such a classic flavor for ice cream. It's also a very good complement to desserts like apple pie and chocolate cake. Since it goes so well with almost any dessert, it's a great base for creating other flavors of ice cream.
This particular recipe is very simple, uses basic ingredients, and requires no cooking.
In fact, it's so easy...
that your kids could make it!
Use a 2 Qt. ice cream maker or cut the recipe in half if using a smaller ice cream maker.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups whipping cream
2 cups whole milk
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Mix together all ingredients. Make sure sugar dissolves a bit. Freeze according to your ice cream maker instructions. (usually takes 25 minutes)
Adding mix-ins
If you want to add ingredients such as nuts, chocolate chips, cake, cookies, or whatever else sounds good to you, wait until the last 5 minutes of freezing time to add them. They should not be bigger than a chocolate chip.
Serve immediately or transfer ice cream to freezer containers to harden for a couple of hours. Remove from freezer and let it soften enough so it's easily scooped.
