Ferdinand's Ice Cream Shoppe-WSU Campus in Pullman, WA

Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe is a great addition to the WSU campus. The place was a little too small to fit everyone in, and it was a tight squeeze fitting into the shop(although that was probably because of the Cougar Quest Field Trips).

At my stop there, I decided to try the flavor Tin Lizzy Classic, which is vanilla ice cream swirled with smooth caramel and laced with crunchy bits of toffee.

The ice cream is made fresh in the shop and had a unique creaminess that when mixed with the snap of the toffee, gave a wondrous texture that left me craving for more.

My only complaint about this flavor was that it wasn’t toned down at all. The already overly sweet caramel mixed with the toffee and ice cream delivered an unpleasant aftertaste that was too sweet for my liking.

Besides this, they also have many other unique flavors such as Huckleberry Ripple and Apple Cup Crisp. They keep things fresh by providing seasonal flavors that change every few weeks.

The furniture inside the building seems a little old-fashioned, consisting of small red leather stools and battered tables, but adds to the feeling of a classic, traditional ice cream shop. The story of Ferdinand the Bull was displayed over the wall.

The store also sells coffee and cheese. Ferdinand’s is specifically renowned for their ‘Cougar Gold Cheese’.

Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe is definitely the place to visit when you’re in Pullman. Their unique flavors of ice cream will keep you coming back for more.

Ice Cream and Cheese
by: Mama Freak (Ice Cream Freaks)

Sounds like a really great place to get some ice cream. The Tin Lizzy Classic would definitely be one I would try. Although, having cheese in an ice cream shop is not typical, it's a really neat idea. I'm guessing since it's a college, their dairy would naturally be making both kinds of products. So,why not sell them in one shop, right?

Jeffrey, thanks for telling us about Ferdinand's.
