Ferdinand's Ice Cream Pullman, WA

Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe is located on the WSU campus. It is a small building that you wouldn’t give a second glance usually, thinking it was a small apartment or something.

From the outside, it doesn’t look like an ice cream shop at all, which really makes Ferdinand’s a largely unexpected surprise.

I was expecting standard flavors of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate chip mint. But right when I walked in, I saw the white board of flavors which ranged from Huckleberry Ripple to the Tin Lizzy Classic.

For myself, I chose the Pineapple milkshake which was made of pineapple ice cream and pineapple shavings in a blender until chopped to a light consistency. The milkshake itself was amazing, the texture was like a shave ice. It had a smooth feel and melted in your mouth. The pineapple flavor was unbelievable. It was a real, tropical flavor that felt like the pineapple was just picked from the ground. The flavor of the pineapple then the creaminess that follows really makes this ice cream unique. On the other hand, there is an aftertaste of a cheese in the milkshake, which I’m not sure I quite enjoyed. After I finish my milkshakes I want a taste of pineapple and cream in my mouth, but instead it tasted like fresh cheese.

But overall, Ferdinand’s Ice Cream was a very unexpected surprise with unique flavors of ice cream.

Pineapple Milkshake?
by: Mama Freak (Ice Cream Freaks)

I've never had a pineapple milkshake, but it sounds good! I know what you mean about pineapple that tastes like it was just picked from the ground. When I went to Dole Plantation in Hawaii, I experienced what pineapple is meant to taste like. The cheese aftertaste in the milkshake doesn't seem very appealing to me either. Glad you found a place that offers so many flavors of ice cream. And, thank you for sharing this find with us.
